Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Lead Hand, you will be integral to our fabrication process. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Setting up and proficiently operating various welding equipment including FCAW, MCAW, SMAW, and Submerged Arc Welding systems.
- Performing high-quality, all-position welds on structural steel components.
- Using air carbon arc gouging, oxy-acetylene, and plasma cutting tools for preparation and fitting.
- Safely operating a full range of hand and power tools such as angle grinders, files, and hammers.
- Accurately interpreting engineering blueprints and sketches to calculate dimensions and execute work.
- Participating in the safe rigging, handling, and movement of heavy components within the shop.
- Maintaining a sharp attention to detail to identify material defects and ensure the delivery of a flawless final product.
Qualifications
We welcome applications from a range of experience levels who share our commitment to quality:
- Journeyperson Welder-Fitter or 3rd-4th Year Apprentices are strongly preferred.
- Strong consideration will be given to candidates with equivalent journeyperson-level experience and demonstrated ability.
- Motivated entry-level apprentices with a proven work ethic and eagerness to learn are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience in rigging and safe material handling is a key asset.
- The ability to read and interpret blueprints is essential.
- Must possess the physical stamina, hand-eye coordination, and ability to stand, bend, and lift as required for heavy fabrication work.
