Lead Hand – Housekeeping Services Wanted In Canada

Here is an opportunity to step into a leadership role within a vibrant and diverse health care community. Southern Health-Santé Sud is seeking a Supervisor – Lead Hand for Environmental Services at Boyne Lodge Personal Care Home in Carman, Manitoba. This permanent full-time position offers a competitive hourly rate of $19.76, with day shifts and weekend work as required. In this role, you will maintain the quality of laundry and linen production, oversee housekeeping routines, and assist in orienting and training new staff. If you have at least three years of recent experience in housekeeping or laundry services, a Grade 12 education, and leadership skills, we encourage you to apply.

What You Will Be Doing

  • You will maintain the quality of laundry and linen production, ensuring all items meet established standards.
  • You will uphold housekeeping routines and standards of practice throughout the facility.
  • You will assist in the orientation and training of housekeeping and laundry staff, helping them succeed in their roles.
  • You will work in collaboration with the Manager – Environmental Services, exercising initiative and independent judgment to determine work priorities and methods.
  • You will take action on unusual matters as they arise, problem-solving within the scope of your responsibilities.
  • You will communicate effectively with staff, health care professionals, and co-workers.
  • You will respect and promote a culturally diverse population in all your interactions.
  • You will maintain confidentiality in all formats, including paper, electronic, and other mediums.
  • You will travel to other regional facilities as duties may require.
  • You may occasionally work evenings and weekends as necessary.

What We Are Looking For

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of recent and relevant experience in Housekeeping/Laundry Services.

Education:

  • Completion of Grade 12 education (Manitoba Standard).
  • Certificate in Leadership or completion of Supervision courses.
  • Other equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge and proficiency using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to use housekeeping and laundry technology, equipment, and techniques.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle chemicals and cleaning supplies as per defined procedures.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others.
  • Effective communication skills with staff, health care professionals, and co-workers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Flexibility in adjusting to a changing environment.
  • Problem-solving skills within the scope of the position.
  • Respect for and ability to promote a culturally diverse population.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions anticipated.
