Key Responsibilities
As a Spray Painter, you’ll play an essential role in ensuring every product meets ColorCoat’s high standards for finish and durability.
- Learn and understand the painting area and equipment, following production schedules to determine daily paint needs.
- Ensure all mixing supplies are available and prepare paint according to supplier specifications.
- Sand and prepare surfaces for repainting, ensuring proper adhesion and finish.
- Keep the paint lane, tools, mixing equipment, and mixing area clean and organized.
- Fill solvent containers on the production floor as needed.
- Recognize colors and ensure the correct color is used for each job.
- Understand assembly and disassembly of paint guns, communicating any issues with the gun, air supply, paint quality, or booth to the manager.
- Notify the manager when supplies need to be reordered.
- Paint samples for every lot of paint opened, labeling samples with relevant information.
- Replace filters in the paint booth and oven as needed, ensuring overall cleanliness.
- Learn paint specifications for different customers, recognizing preparation issues and notifying cleaners of problems.
- Paint units using proper technique, following instructions to ensure a flawless finish.
- Follow all safety guidelines, always wearing personal protective equipment and ensuring proper care of equipment.
- Learn and understand the mechanics of equipment used, including drill presses, agitator drums, pallet jacks, and compressors.
- Replace brown bags on sprinkler heads as required.
- Follow manager directions and maintain a productive pace as set by management.
- Work cooperatively with other team members to achieve production goals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
ColorCoat is looking for a skilled painter with more than three years of experience and the physical capability to perform precision work in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Requirements:
- More than 3 years of painting experience, ideally in automotive collision repair, auto body painting, or industrial coatings application.
- Experience using HVLP spray guns in a spray booth environment.
- Ability to successfully complete a physical evaluation and respiratory test (mask fit testing provided).
- Knowledge of how to use a paint gun and related equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining productive speed.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Ability to measure with measuring cups and maintain consistency in ounces.
- Physical ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and occasionally climb or balance.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Color vision required to accurately identify and match paint colors.

Work Environment
- Regular exposure to toxic chemicals requiring the use of supplied PPE (mask fit testing provided).
- Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions and work near moving mechanical parts.
- Noise level is usually loud, with work primarily based in or around a paint booth and dryer system.

Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour, contingent on experience.
- Shift: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM.
