Silent-Aire Limited Partnership, a wholly owned subsidiary of Johnson Controls, is looking for Metal Working Machine Operators to join our growing team in the Edmonton region. We have manufacturing facilities in Edmonton, Sherwood Park, and Nisku, and we’re hiring for multiple shifts. What You’ll Be Doing
- Running metal working machinery: You’ll operate equipment like brakes, shears, saws, and punches to fabricate piece parts according to specifications.
- Fabricating and assembling: You’ll take piece parts and assemble them into finished products, following schematics and guidance from your Team Lead or Supervisor.
- Reading blueprints: You’ll interpret drawings and program machining equipment to produce the required parts accurately.
- Learning and growing: You’ll familiarize yourself with machining equipment and request training when you need it to keep building your skills.
- Maintaining equipment: You’ll inspect machinery regularly, keep it in good working order, and report any malfunctions to leadership.
- Assisting the team: You’ll help tradespeople and supervisors with tasks that keep projects moving forward safely.
- Keeping things organized: You’ll maintain a clean department and do a full clean at the end of each workday.
- Watching for hazards: If you see unsafe conditions or practices, you’ll speak up and notify your Team Lead or Supervisor.
- Moving materials: If you’re trained and authorized, you may operate forklifts or overhead cranes to move materials around the facility.
- Following safety standards: Every task you do will follow Silent-Aire’s safety program and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
What We’re Looking For
- High school completion or equivalent education. Additional education or apprenticeship experience in metal working is preferred.
- Experience with safe practices and processes associated with manufacturing from raw materials to finished product.
- Good English communication skills to understand instructions and coordinate with your team and supervisors.
- The ability to read blueprints and set up machinery to produce required parts.
- Comfort with long periods of standing in a commercial or industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity to use necessary tools safely and effectively.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
- Your own vehicle or reliable transportation public transit is not available close to our facilities.
