Boilermakers, Specialised Welders Required In Australia

Drew Project Services is looking for Boilermakers and Specialist Welders to join us on shutdowns and major projects right on the water at Newcastle’s shipping ports. If you’re tired of the same old site, the same small repairs, and being managed like it’s still the 90s, it might be time for a change. We’re offering big gear, big projects, and the kind of work you can actually be proud of all with harbourside views that make the grind worth it.

Who We Are

We’re Drew Project Services the heavy industry experts who actually treat tradespeople like tradespeople. We’re not a “bums on seats” labour hire outfit that shuffles numbers around. We’re a crew of absolute weapons (in the good way) who get the job done properly, go home safe, and have a laugh doing it. If you’re after real work with real mates and real big jobs, this is where you want to be.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Working on shutdowns and major projects out at Newcastle’s famous shipping ports machinery so big it looks fake in photos.
  • Laying down quality welds using MMAW and FCAW processes. We’re talking proper work, not dinky repairs.
  • Leading crews (if you’re a Leading Hand) with calm, clear direction that actually makes sense unlike those IKEA instructions everyone fights with.
  • Putting in the hours when there’s overtime available nights, weekends, and early starts where a Redbull won’t cut it, but the payslip makes it all worthwhile.
  • Working with a crew that’s got your back they’ll stitch you up all day and still shout you a beer after.

Who We’re After

  • Leading Hands who can wrangle a crew better than they wrangle their partner’s furniture assembly instructions. Calm, clear, and nobody ends up crying.
  • Boilermakers who can weld straighter than a brand-new spirit level, even after the smoko pie and iced coffee combo.
  • Specialist Welders with shutdown experience who aren’t afraid of heat or hard work.

The Must-Haves:

  • White Card (laminated is fine, framed is maybe taking it a bit far).
  • Ability to pass specialised weld tests including MMAW and FCAW.
  • Confined Space and Working at Heights tickets from the last 2 years. If your “training” involved an overhead projector and a bloke named Gaz, it’s time to renew.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test non-negotiable.
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Current Australian driver’s licence.

What You’ll Get

  • Pay that matches the work: $50–$62 per hour for your skills and experience.
  • Plenty of overtime: Nights, weekends, and early starts mean your bank account stays healthy.
  • A crew of good people: Proper banter, solid support, and mates who actually have your back.
  • Big projects, big gear: You’ll be working on machinery that actually impresses people when you show them photos.
  • Respect: At DPS, you’re a tradesman, not a number. We don’t do the “bums on seats” thing.
  • Real work you can be proud of: Not sweeping floors or doing tiny repairs—actual heavy industry work.

Ready to Apply?

If you want work you can actually be proud of and a crew you’ll actually enjoy working with, stop scrolling and get your application in.

When you apply, be ready to answer a few questions:

  • Which height safety tickets do you currently hold?
  • What’s your right to work status in Australia?
  • How many years of boilermaker experience do you have?
  • Which welding methods are you experienced in?
  • Do you hold a valid White Card?
  • Do you have a current Australian driver’s licence?
  • Which High Risk Work licences do you currently hold?

Apply now through the original job posting. We’re growing fast and we want tradespeople who can do elite work, show up, and still have a laugh while getting it done properly.

A quick note: Don’t provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs. Legitimate employers won’t ask for that information upfront.
