Key Responsibilities
- Plant, Cultivate, and Irrigate Crops: Assist with planting tobacco, maintaining crops throughout the growing season, and operating automated irrigation systems.
- Harvest Crops: Participate in the tobacco harvest, working efficiently to ensure crops are collected at the right time.
- Apply Hoeing Techniques: Perform manual hoeing between rows to control weeds and maintain soil health.
- Remove Suckers and Water Sprouts: Manually remove all suckers and water sprouts from tobacco plants to ensure healthy growth and quality yield.
- Operate Automated Irrigation System: Use and monitor the automated irrigation system to ensure crops receive adequate water.
- Perform General Farm Duties: Assist with other tasks as needed to support overall farm operations.
Work Environment
- Outdoors: Work in all weather conditions hot, dusty, and wet/damp.
- Chicken Farming: May involve working in proximity to chicken farming operations.
- At Heights: Some tasks may require working at heights.
- Noisy and Odours: Be prepared for farm environments with typical noise and odours.
- Tobacco: Daily contact with tobacco crops.
- Physical Work: Be prepared for hands-on, physical work that can be demanding.
Requirements
- Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
- Experience: Will train no previous experience necessary.
- Transportation: Own transportation is required as public transportation may not be available.
- Language: Must meet the language requirements listed in the job posting.
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in Canada.
- Location: Must live near the job location or be willing to relocate.
