About the Job

Working in an orchard is a rewarding and sensory experience. You’ll be part of a seasonal team that brings the harvest to life. Under the guidance of our experienced farm leads, you’ll learn the art of carefully selecting and picking fruit at its peak. Your work will be hands-on, physical, and directly contribute to bringing fresh, local fruit to tables across Canada and the world.

Key Responsibilities (with Training Provided)

Your daily activities will be varied and will take place outdoors in the beautiful countryside. You will be trained to:

  • Hand-Harvest Fruit: Carefully pick apples, cherries, and other orchard fruits, using proper techniques to ensure the fruit is not damaged and the trees remain healthy .
  • Select for Quality: Learn to identify and select only the ripest, highest-quality fruit, ensuring only the best produce makes it to the packing stage .
  • Assist with Orchard Maintenance: Help with tasks like thinning fruit to improve the size and quality of the remaining crop, and supporting general orchard upkeep .
  • Handle Fruit with Care: Assist in gently placing harvested fruit into bins or buckets, preparing it for transport to the packing shed .
  • Operate Basic Equipment: With training, you may learn to operate farm machinery, such as tractors or platforms, to assist with the harvest process .
  • Maintain a Clean Work Environment: Keep your work area organized and follow all farm safety protocols .

  • A Keen Eye for Detail: You’ll need to be able to spot the ripest fruit and handle it carefully to avoid bruising .
  • A Team-Oriented Attitude: You’ll be part of a close-knit team and will need to work collaboratively to achieve daily harvest goals .
  • Reliability: Our harvest depends on our team showing up every day, ready to work. We need people we can count on .

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive Pay: Hourly wages typically range from CAD $16.00 to $22.00+, often based on piece rates, meaning the more you pick, the more you earn, with top harvesters often earning significantly above minimum wage .

  • Visa Sponsorship: As a farm participating in the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), we are often able to provide the necessary documentation, including a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), to help you obtain a valid Canadian work permit .
