HDR is seeking a West Region Alternative Delivery Lead within the Power Sector to join our national Alternative Delivery (AD) Leadership Team. This role focuses on planning, managing, and delivering power delivery AD projects across the Western United States, including transmission, substation, distribution, and renewable energy projects. Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for HDR’s West Region AD program in collaboration with the Power Sector AD Director, covering states such as Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, and Hawaii
- Partner with business development, operations, and technical teams to identify new project opportunities and staffing strategies
- Lead negotiations with construction partners and align teaming agreements with HDR’s business goals
- Develop and guide a Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) team to evaluate and mitigate technical risks of AD projects
- Review AD project opportunities, RFPs, and technical data to assess investments prior to Go/No-Go decisions
- Assist in scope, schedule, and budget development for AD projects, with emphasis on risk management, procurement, and construction support
- Mentor and manage AD project managers, technical leaders, project controls, and commercial managers to deliver high-quality project outcomes
- Serve as a senior advisor during AD project execution and provide contract administration and project delivery support
- Oversee production sections including staffing, workload forecasting, quality, safety, and team morale
- Participate as Project Manager or Engineering Manager on select AD and traditional design-bid-build projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of related power delivery experience, with at least 5 years in project management
- Proven experience leading engineering teams on EPC or design-build projects
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, project management software, and estimating/scheduling tools
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and locations
- Understanding of contractual risk and mitigation strategies in AD projects
- Professional Engineer licensure or DBIA certification preferred
- Willingness to travel up to 30% for project oversight
