Apprentice Spray Painter Jobs In Australia

Ever watched a car get its final coat of paint and felt a sense of excitement? That moment is what we live for. We’re offering two special opportunities for individuals in Dubbo and Mudgee to begin a hands-on apprenticeship as a Spray Painter. This isn’t just a job; it’s the start of a concrete, nationally recognised career in smash repairs. If you’re ambitious, have a keen eye for detail, and are ready to commit to learning a skilled trade from the ground up in a supportive, family-owned business, we want to hear from you. No prior industry experience needed—just a real passion for automotive work and quality craftsmanship.

What You’ll Learn and Do

As an apprentice with us, you’ll be mentored by seasoned professionals and gain comprehensive, hands-on skills. Your training will cover all aspects of modern vehicle spray painting, including:

  • Preparing vehicle panels expertly for painting, ensuring a flawless base for the finish.
  • Mastering the art of colour matching, both by eye and using advanced computer technology.
  • Learning to mix paints and understand the complex blends and multi-layered formulations used in modern automotive finishes.
  • Operating and maintaining modern spray painting equipment and following precise spray processes.
  • Applying primer, base coats, and clear coats, as well as creating special effects with paint and finishes.
  • Meticulously masking glass, trim, and other areas to protect them during the painting process.
  • Performing final detailing like buffing and polishing to achieve a showroom-quality finish on every vehicle.
  • Contributing to a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment.

Who We Are Looking For

We hire based on our company values. The right candidate for this apprenticeship will be someone who can demonstrate:

  • A strong work ethic, a clear sense of responsibility, and reliable self-reliance.
  • A genuine desire to learn, grow, and contribute to continuous improvement in our workshop.
  • Excellent attention to detail—the kind of person who notices the small things that make a big difference.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Basic computer skills and an understanding of fundamental math concepts.
  • A valid NSW Driver’s Licence.
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  • Most importantly: You must show committed and hungry behaviour, a willingness to change and learn, respect for yourself and others, and the humility to ask questions. Any previous work experience is a plus, but it does not need to be in smash repairs.

We offer structured pathways to start your career, depending on your current situation:

  • Full-Time Apprenticeship: Leave school and enter a paid training contract, combining full-time work with formal TAFE study.
  • School-Based Traineeship (SBAT): For Years 11 and 12 students, combining one paid day per week at work with school and a Certificate II qualification.
