Are you the kind of painter who spots a detail others might miss? If you have a steady hand and a sharp eye for a perfect finish, we want to hear from you. We’re on the lookout for a trade-certified painter for a variety of projects across the Rockhampton region. This is a casual role that offers flexibility and the opportunity to take on diverse painting work, from detailed interior tasks to robust exterior projects. If you value quality and work safely, this could be a great fit.
About the Role
This position is all about applying your craft to protect and beautify surfaces. We’re looking for a professional who doesn’t just apply paint but ensures every surface is prepared and finished to the highest standard. You’ll be trusted to work on different sites, managing your tasks with precision and care. It’s ideal for a painter who enjoys variety in their workday and takes real ownership of the quality of their output.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll handle the full scope of painting jobs, ensuring every step from prep to finish is done right. Your main duties will include:
- Preparing all surfaces thoroughly before any coating is applied, which means cleaning, sanding, and filling holes or cracks to create a smooth, even base.
- Expertly applying decorative and protective finishes such as paint, varnish, or wallpaper to interior and exterior surfaces including walls, ceilings, and structures.
- Accurately mixing and matching paint colours and materials to meet exact job specifications and client requirements.
- Selecting and using the correct tools for each task, whether that’s brushes, rollers, or spray equipment, to achieve a professional, high-quality result.
- Performing all work in strict compliance with workplace safety, health regulations, and our company’s quality standards.
- Carrying out touch-ups and repairs to existing finishes, maintaining the appearance and integrity of previously painted surfaces.
Your Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this flexible role, you’ll need to bring both formal qualifications and practical know-how. We are looking for a candidate with:
- A current, formal Trade Certification in Painting.
- A valid Construction Safety Induction Card (White Card or equivalent).
- Proven, hands-on experience applying a range of finishes with brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
- Strong skills in surface preparation and a meticulous approach to colour matching.
- A solid understanding of and commitment to on-site safety and health standards.
- The reliability and initiative to work effectively on your own across different job sites.
- Your own reliable transport and basic tools would be highly advantageous for this casual position.
What We Offer You
We value the skilled tradespeople we work with and aim to make this a rewarding partnership. This role provides:
- A casual employment arrangement offering flexibility to suit your schedule.
- A competitive pay range of $65,000 to $85,000 per year (pro-rated for casual hours), commensurate with your experience and skill level.
- The opportunity to work on a variety of interesting painting projects in the Rockhampton area.
- Clear expectations and support to work safely and to a high-quality standard.
