Job Overview (Grader Operator)

Key Responsibilities (Excavator Operator)

  • Get out into the beautiful Taranaki countryside and get to work repairing and maintaining rural roads and infrastructure.
  • Operate late-model excavators with skill and care, handling tasks from drainage and shaping to larger pavement rehabilitation projects.
  • Take real ownership of your machine keep it clean, perform routine checks, and treat it with the respect it deserves.
  • Work closely with the rest of the construction crew, helping with site setup, equipment maintenance, and keeping the job moving safely.
  • Keep health, safety, and environmental rules front of mind every day, making sure everyone goes home safe.
  • Lend your experience to guide less experienced operators on site, helping them sharpen their skills.
  • Use your problem-solving skills to think on your feet and sort out operational challenges as they come up.

Key Responsibilities (Grader Operator)

  • Head out to some of Taranaki’s most scenic rural locations, with the main job of repairing and maintaining local roads.
  • Operate late-model graders to a high standard, focusing on achieving the perfect finish for road maintenance and pavement rehabilitation.
  • Work as a key part of a tight-knit construction team, helping with everything from job setup to keeping the site running smoothly.
  • Take pride in your machinery carry out regular maintenance, keep it clean, and report any issues early.
  • Be a champion for safety on site, making sure all work follows health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
  • Share your knowledge with less experienced crew members, helping them learn the ropes and operate more confidently.
  • Stay alert and solve problems on the go, keeping projects on track without compromising on quality.

Qualifications (Both Roles)

  • You have extensive, proven experience operating either an excavator or a grader specifically—we need someone who knows their machine inside and out.
  • You hold a clean driver’s licence and the all-important WTR endorsement.
  • You’ve worked in a civil construction environment before and understand how to get the job done safely and efficiently.
  • You’re a solid problem-solver who can make good decisions on the fly, whether you’re working alone or with the team.
  • You communicate well and work easily with others—being a reliable teammate is just as important as your operating skills.
  • You bring a positive attitude to work every day and are genuinely keen to learn and grow with a company that’s going places.
