As a proud partner of the Auckland District Council, the team takes care of parks, playgrounds, gardens, infrastructure, and public spaces, helping to make Auckland an even better place to live and visit. Key Responsibilities
As a Grounds Worker, you’ll be a versatile and skilled professional handling a wide range of tasks to maintain beautiful outdoor spaces.
- Maintain both soft and hard landscaping areas to high standards.
- Perform pruning, planting, flax cutting, and general garden care tasks.
- Undertake hedge trimming, weed eating, edging, and mulching.
- Spray herbicides and manually remove/pick weeds and pest plants.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently, following company protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve shared goals and deliver quality outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
We’re looking for someone with a great work ethic, a passion for working outdoors, and a positive attitude. While practical experience in horticulture is ideal, it’s not a must.
Essential Qualities:
- A current, full Class 1 driver’s licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
- A good level of fitness, as the role can be physically demanding.
- A team player with a positive attitude who naturally helps out teammates.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
- High motivation and a strong desire to get the job done.
- In accordance with the company’s Drug & Alcohol Policy, the successful candidate will be required to undergo and pass a pre-employment drug test.
Preferred (But Not Essential):
- Practical experience in horticulture or grounds maintenance.
- Ability to use a smartphone and other technology.
