Key Responsibilities
- Collect, sort, process, and distribute resident linens and personal clothing with care and attention to individual preferences.
- Load and operate commercial washers and dryers, ensuring appropriate cycles and detergent levels for different fabric types.
- Fold, organize, and transport clean linens and garments onto carts for room delivery and common area use.
- Inspect clothing and linens for missing labels, tears, or excessive wear, discarding or flagging items for repair as needed.
- Maintain a lost and found system for misplaced personal clothing, helping residents feel secure in their belongings.
- Assist with meal service when needed, supporting residents’ nutritional needs with patience and respect.
- Porter residents and assist with safe lifts and transfers, working alongside nursing and personal support teams.
- Participate in quality audits and risk management activities, ensuring laundry processes meet regulatory standards.
- Attend committee meetings and education sessions to stay current on best practices and organizational goals.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laundry equipment, reporting maintenance concerns promptly.
- Complete all required documentation using computerized systems accurately and on time.
Qualifications
What you’ll need to bring:
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of commercial laundry equipment, cleaning agents, and infection control protocols.
- Ability to read, write, and follow detailed instructions in English with confidence.
- Strong communication skills and a natural ability to build respectful relationships with residents, families, and coworkers.
- Comfort using basic computer systems for documentation and reporting.
- Successful completion of a vulnerable sector check and TB test prior to start date.
What will help you stand out:
- Previous experience in long-term care, retirement, or hospital laundry services.
- Familiarity with RIA or other long-term care regulatory requirements.
- A genuine interest in working with older adults and contributing to a positive resident experience.
