Looking for a role that gets you outdoors, keeps you active, and contributes to essential community services? Service Stream is seeking reliable and safety-conscious Meter Readers across Queensland. If you enjoy independent work, staying on the move, and being out in the field, this is a fantastic opportunity to start a stable, long-term career with full, paid training provided. No prior experience is necessary just a great attitude and a good level of fitness.

Company Overview

Service Stream is an ASX-listed leader in developing and maintaining Australia’s essential services networks. We specialise in critical infrastructure across utilities, telecommunications, and transport, working with major blue-chip clients to keep communities connected. Key Responsibilities

In this active, outdoor role, you will be the vital link in collecting essential utility data. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Independently traveling to residential and commercial properties across your assigned region to accurately read and record electricity, water, and gas meter data using a company-supplied handheld device.
  • Safely navigating varied terrain and weather conditions, walking approximately 15-20 km per day, which involves regular bending, squatting, and accessing meter boxes.
  • Maintaining an unwavering focus on safety by adhering to all field procedures, being aware of surroundings, property access, animals, and potential hazards.
  • Driving your own reliable vehicle between route areas to complete your daily schedule efficiently.
  • Representing Service Stream professionally through courteous and clear communication with the public when necessary.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who are reliable, safety-focused, and ready for an active role. You will need:

  • A valid Australian Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable, roadworthy vehicle (a travel allowance is provided).
  • A Construction White Card (or the ability to obtain one before starting).
  • The legal right to work in Australia (citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid work visa).
  • Excellent physical fitness and the ability to walk 15-20 km daily in all weather conditions.
  • Strong self-motivation, punctuality, and the ability to work effectively without direct supervision.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy in your work.
  • The ability to pass a National Police Check and a pre-employment Medical/Physical Assessment.
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday during standard hours (approx. 7am–3pm).
